Land For Sale by Owner in Schley County
December 9th, 2007 6:27 PM

Saturday, December 8, was a fun day because I got to do one of my favorite things: ramble around in the woods.

I took pictures of two tracts of land that are For Sale by Owner. The pictures and descriptions are posted to another of my real estate websites: http://www.clientrealty.net

Michael Dixon Realty advertises FSBO properties free of charge and without obligation. Maybe it will help sell the property. If it does, the owner owes me nothing. The cost to me is a little time and gasoline, and I enjoy doing it, so why not?

Guess what: Today, December 9, is my birthday. If you want to know how old I am, you will have to ask. If you're in Ellaville, you can ask my cousin, Margaret (McMickle) Gooding. She remembers very well when I was a baby out at Concord.

The Saturday before Christmas
December 22nd, 2007 11:29 AM

This is a sorta dreary day. The sky is gray and dull, and I don't want to do anything. I need to buy groceries, but will I stay home and eat cereal instead?

This close to Christmas, probably nobody will be listing property or wanting to look at property, so maybe I'll just stay home and read. I'm about half way through an exciting new novel by David Baldaci, "Stone Cold." I've also started another one called "Water for Elephants," and I've read the first few chapters of yet a third one called "East Is East." My relatives laugh at me for reading more than one book at a time. They think I'll get the characters and the stories mixed up.

Seriously, I must go grocery shopping, so I'll end this here. If you're reading it, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Staying busy -- sort of
December 12th, 2007 9:24 PM

Today, Dec. 12, the Americus Board of Realtors held its annual Christmas luncheon. (I hope it's still OK to say "Christmas" luncheon.) It's a time of good food and fellowship when we can talk about something other than our cooperative real estate transactions. It's also the day that we install our officers and directors for the coming year. My good friend and fellow broker, Deborah Poole, is concluding her two-year term as president. She did a great job. (What else would we expect?)

The Americus Board of Realtors operates the Americus Multiple Listing Service in which we members list our properties for sale. We cooperatively show and sell each other's listings, and share commissions. The MLS is a good way for sellers to make their properties available to all members of the MLS. At the same time, it helps buyers look at any and all properties with just one Realtor (if they so choose). It's a big time saver, and just makes sense.

That word "Service" in Multiple Listing Service is the key word. Today, more than ever, service is the name of the game for anyone trying to meet the needs of customers. It's why I try to be competitive by offering some services my competitors don't offer. If you are trying to sell your real estate, or even thinking about it, call me and let's chat about how I can market your property and provide some services you might not know about.

I could use some listings -- and I'd like to show my appreciation for your business.
